Gold Bond Canada, Ltd (formerly National Gypsum Canada, Ltd) operates the worlds’ largest open pit gypsum mine, located in Milford NS. The mine opened in 1954, and total production to date has exceeded 165 million tons of gypsum.
October 22, 1991 an operator unearthed what would later become known as “Marvin the Mastodon”.
Their gypsum is shipped via rail to their loading facility in Dartmouth, NS where it is loaded and shipped to one of their US plants. (primarily on the US Eastern Seaboard). It is then manufactured into various types of wallboard.
Why did they join the Chamber? “We joined in order to support our local Community.”
