Expert Panel Discussion: Recruiting Relief

Expert Panel Discussion: Recruiting Relief

Join us for a round-table Discussion – Labor Shortage Shortfall: Where have all the workers gone?

Date: Thursday, November 22, 2018

Time: 8:00 – 10:00 am

Address: Todd Hunter Room, East Hants SportsPlex, 1076 Highway #2, Lantz

Guest panelists will provide an overview of the labor shortage crisis in Nova Scotia and the communities surrounding East Hants; discuss issues and solutions such as hiring underutilized members of the labor force to assist our businesses and economy in sustaining and growing

Panelists will include:

  • Stacey Ingraham, President of the EHCC
  • Debbie Lawrence, Abundant Living
  • Shelley Bent, Director of Programs, NS Office of Immigration
  • Mike Little, Employer Engagement Specialist, Teamwork Bridge

“Labour shortages are most serious in Atlantic Canada. The extent of labour shortages in the Atlantic region was surprising because it has a higher unemployment rate than the Canadian average. Factors contributing to this result include the region’s older population, lower labour participation rate and higher share of seasonal workers.
