On June 14th the EHCC Advocacy committee met with CAO Nolan and Warden Smith to discuss was the plans for dealing with the traffic on Route 214 between Hwy #2 and Hwy #102. They were advised that the Municipality of East Hants (MEH) had commissioned a traffic study of the area, which was reviewed with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) and a plan had been developed. The priorities set by the MEH are:
- To lobby with TIR to improve the intersection of the Old Enfield Road and Hwy #2. Upgrade Route 214 between Hwy #2 and Hwy #102 including adding a third lane between Hwy #2 and Hwy #102.
- Adding three rotaries (one at the intersection of Route 2 and Hwy #214, and one on each side of Hwy #102. This would also involve building a new overpass).
- Add the interchange in Lantz.
The final decision, funding and timing is up to TIR. Traffic Study Report.
