Traffic Study Report

On June 14th  the EHCC Advocacy committee met with CAO Nolan and Warden Smith to discuss was the plans for dealing with the traffic on Route 214 between Hwy #2 and Hwy #102. They were advised that the Municipality of East Hants (MEH) had commissioned a traffic study of the area, which was reviewed with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (TIR) and a plan had been developed. The priorities set by the MEH are:

  1. To lobby with TIR to improve the intersection of the Old Enfield Road and Hwy #2. Upgrade Route 214 between Hwy #2 and Hwy #102 including adding a third lane between Hwy #2 and  Hwy #102.
  2. Adding three rotaries (one at the intersection of Route 2 and Hwy #214, and one on each side of Hwy #102. This would also involve building a new overpass).
  3. Add the interchange in Lantz.

The final decision, funding and timing is up to TIR. Traffic Study Report.
