Business Excellence Awards 2013

The East Hants & Districts Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the annual Business Excellence Awards 2013 Gala. This year the Gala will be held at the fabulous new Alt Hotel at the Halifax Stanfield International Airport on Tuesday, October 22, 2013.

The evening will include a gala reception, dinner, keynote speaker, awards presentation and special guests. The awards are presented in eight categories to deserving companies and individuals in the business community.

The keynote speaker will be Shaun Majumder, comedian, television star, Gemini Award winner and social entrepreneur from Burlington, Newfoundland.  Shaun’s presentation theme will be rural communities and social enterprise. Rural communities are fighting for their very survival. They are looking for a way to insure a sustainable future.  We will explore how one rural Newfoundland community with the help of a native son, who has become a national and international star with “celebrity status”, is working to promote economic development in his hometown. Gemini award winning comedian and TV star Shaun Majumder will join us to tell his story.

This year we will also feature special guests award winning, Enfield native, Classified (aka Luke Boyd) and equally accomplished singer, songwriter, David Myles  who collaborated on their recent hit song “Inner Ninja” which has proven to be an international sensation.  Classified and David will perform their hit song at the event.

In honour of Luke’s accomplishment and as an inspiration to our young entrepreneurs the Young Entrepreneur Award will also be known as the Inner Ninja Award and be presented by Luke.

This year in addition to highlighting the challenges facing our rural communities we want to focus on the entrepreneur and the strength, determination, fortitude, and perseverance that it takes to be an entrepreneur.

We expect there will be a strong demand for tickets and seating is limited so we suggest you purchase your tickets early.

Do you stay where you’re at or do you set sail? It can be hard know.

So the question for you this Monday morning is: Will you stay at the shore this week? Or will you prepare to set sail? Or will you launch?

Ever wonder what the Chamber of Commerce does when not hosting events?

Many of you may not know that there are volunteers, who are business folks such as yourself, working behind the scenes, advocating for the businesses on important issues surrounding COVID, and also community issues, such as Doctor Recruitment, Affordable Housing and Public Transit. They meet with government officials to discuss the important issues and often join forces with other organizations that are focused on the same goals and outcomes. We understand the importance of a strong community.

If you are experiencing any roadblocks or issues, we want to hear from you. You can reach us at (902) 883-1010 or email us at info@ehcc.ca.
