The goal of this part of the web site is to provide a location where an individual can source data and statistics that will be of assistance to existing business, to potential new business and to any individual or organization that is interested in the economic life in East Hants.

Municipality of East Hants Socio-Economic Study – This study is a combination of 2006 census data, and economic activity data collected by the Municipality of East Hants. It covers population, housing activity, development activity (agricultural, construction, residential and commercial), building permits, etc. The material is quite comprehensive. Some is limited to the 2006 census; however a lot of the information is more recent.

Labour Market Information – This is web site is provide by the Federal Government department Human Resources and Skills Development Canada. It provides a lot of information by region in Nova Scotia. Employment, wages, changes in etc. Each month a Labour Market Brief is produced for each region. This reports on changes in the labour market, migration, employment rates etc. Also each month a Labour Market Bulletin is produced for each area. It outlines trends, employment, and there are news articles on specific companies in the region.

Nova Scotia Business Statistics 2009 – This report is found on the Provincial Department of Finance Statistics Section web site. It is a comprehensive report on businesses. It lists such things as the types of business by size, the number of employees, the payroll dollars, etc. This is done for the province and by county. It lists the number of new business by year, then number of bankruptcies, profiles of small business (revenues and cost) by sector. The listing is comprehensive but some information dates back to 2006.
 

2006 Census of Canada Nova Scotia Perspective Release #1 Population and Dwellings – This report gives the highlight on population changes in Nova Scotia. It shows the growth and decline by county, census subdivision, and incorporated towns.

Statistics Canada, 2006 Community Profile for East Hants Nova Scotia – This report contains a lot of detail on East Hants. This was one of the census subdivisions. It also shows the same data for the province and so East Hants can be compared to the province. Some of the areas covered are population age, gender and marital data, housing data, family characteristics, household income, immigration, mobility of the population, education, occupation, employment etc.

Nova Scotia Business Directory nsbizlink.ca  – This is a business and manufacturing directory that matches suppliers with buyers creating province wide partnerships. This is a search location that can find business in all the areas of East Hants and Nova Scotia.
