President - Richard Ramsay - Richard G. Ramsay Management Consultants Inc., Lantz  

Rick is the principal of Richard G. Ramsay Management Consultants Inc., a Lantz-based business, specializing in strategic planning, human resource strategies, financial sustainability analyses and governance systems. He serves as Chair of the Resource Recovery Board of Nova Scotia and is a life member of the Association of Municipal Administrators of Nova Scotia.

He and his wife Linda live in Lantz.  Rick is an avid golfer, and considers music and reading his other major interests.

Vice President, Greg McTiernan - The Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop, Elmsdale

Greg grew up in Halifax and moved to East Hants in 1997.  He and his wife Nancy ran a successful nursery business in Elmsdale, based in Nine Mile River, for many years.

Today they run The Sweet Spot Chocolate Shop in Elmsdale, which is Taste of Nova Scotia approved and is rapidly becoming a local landmark.  In the summer of 2010 they added The Hot Spot grill and picnic tables to their premises and offered mobile barbecue catering services as well.

They still live in Nine Mile River with their dog, Jake, and eight cats.

Treasurer - Jill Doane - The Corridor Office, Lantz

Jill Doane comes to the Chamber with a solid background of more than 20 years in the office administration field.  She is the owner/operator of The Corridor Office, a Lantz-based business she started in 2007 when she moved to the area with her husband Tim and sons Mathieu & Jacob.   Her services cover the Hants County area and include bookkeeping & data entry, office overload & temporary staffing, with a specialized background in legal transcription.

In addition to being the Chamber’s Treasurer, she also serves on the Finance Committee.

Secretary Linda Wood - Burchell MacDougall
From the farm to the big city and a few places in between, Linda has enjoyed the best of all worlds by living and working in the Elmsdale area since 2000. With a law degree from McGill University, in her first five years Linda maintained a client-focused general practice. Now building on a decade of experience, Linda focuses on real estate transactions, wills & estate planning, and corporate law.

Deanne Parsons, Senior Account Manager, Small Business/Personal, Royal Bank Canada, Elmsdale

Born and raised in Cape Breton, Deanne earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree and Business Diploma at Cape Breton University before entering banking in 2006.  She moved to the Elmsdale area in 2008 as part of a relocation move with Scotiabank.  Over the past five years she obtained her certification in financial counselling, focusing on all areas of mortgages including New Construction, Military Relocation and Start Right Program (Immigrating to Canada), and has just recently joined Royal Bank Canada in their Elmsdale Branch.  Deanne enjoys participating and volunteering for community events and also sits on the Chamber's Membership Committee. She lives happily in Elmsdale with her two golden retrievers, Cooper and Shelby.

Sharon Prest - Mariposa Reading Achievement Centre, Elmsdale

Sharon started working for Mariposa Reading Achievement Centre Ltd. in Truro in 1992.  When a branch office was opened in Elmsdale eleven years ago, she became the supervisor of that Centre. Since that time, she has become Regional Manager, and now oversees the Mariposa Centres in Elmsdale, Truro, Bridgewater, Yarmouth & Windsor.

Sharon takes great pride in helping students who struggle with reading and spelling and has made a tremendous difference in many students’ lives.

Sharon lives in Lantz and is involved with a number of networking groups in order to make a positive impact in the community.

Originally from Cape Breton, Kevin headed west for the prairies over 40 years ago, living for the majority of that time in Swift Current,  Saskatchewan.

He returned home to his roots in February of 2008 and found employment at Enfield Home Hardware as Inventory/Operations Manager for the company.  Eventually he became a Chamber Board member as a way to give back to this great community.

JD MacCulloch - Director, Municipality of East Hants

John David (JD) MacCulloch, a member of the Chamber Board since 2005, is currently Director of Economic & Business Development with the Municipality of East Hants.  He is responsible for implementation of the Municipal Economic Development Plan and programs to support business growth & economic development in the region.

JD has an extensive background in the private sector in international marketing, communications & business development. He has owned and managed companies focused on new technology, software applications and product development with offices in Halifax and San Francisco.
He has been executive producer for major international business conferences & creative festivals, and coordinated Regal and Vice Regal visits to Nova Scotia.

Today, JD sees tremendous potential for growth & opportunities for companies in East Hants. He's pleased to be working with this experienced, energetic local business community.

JD grew up in Bedford and now lives in Elmsdale. He a seventh generation Nova Scotian with family roots in Kennetcook dating back to 1780.

Bill McBurney - McBurney Pools & Spas, Dartmouth
Pat Mills - National Gypsum, Milford

Pat is General Manager of National Gypsum’s large open pit gypsum mine located at Milford Station. He is originally from New Brunswick. Before working with National Gypsum, Pat worked in construction in New Brunswick and overseas.

Today Pat resides in Milford Station with wife Hannah, who teaches in adult education. They have four grown children and six grandchildren.

Mike Tompkins - Tompkins Photography, Enfield

Mike and his wife Susan operate Tompkins Photography Studio in Enfield. As a portrait photographer Mike is kept busy with family, sports, and commercial photography. Mike joined the chamber in 2002 and has been a major player ever since, serving on the Board for several years and taking an active part in Chamber initiatives.
